If you are looking to start building a web presence finding affordable web hosting is a necessary evil. There are literally so many companies and options out there it could make a persons head spin. Most of the hosting companies you will find are specialized in different markets of hosting, but if you aren’t aware of the lingo this could have you running around in circles trying to figure out what you need.
Lets take HostGator for example; They have a business plan where you get an unlimited amount of domains (meaning websites you can host) and unlimited Bandwidth (meaning you can throw on as much as you want on said websites). There are some other things they toss in that most other companies don’t. What about a toll free number? They give you a free one. SEO for dummies? Sure! All for about 15 bucks a month. But while on the subject of HostGator, they own an SEO version of their hosting called “SEO Hosting”. This will allow you to assign multiple IP addresses per website giving them the illusion of being on different networks. This kind of phased out over the last few years, but it’s still popular. (and usually expensive). In this case it will cost you about 30 bucks a month for 5 or so “class C” ip addresses. These plans are usually limited on bandwidth too. Ultimately, the choice is up to what you need. IMHO regardless of what you go for, HostGator is the way to go. They offer just about every kind of hosting you could ever ask for, are affordable, they have great up-time, and they customer support is next to none.
